Bishops Exclusion Bill 1642
1641 In March 1641, an exclusion bill had gone before the Commons but it was thrown out on 8th June.

At the end of 1641, the Bishops were excluded from the House of Lords by the London mob, no doubt encouraged by Pym. They protested to King Charles that this was an outrageous infringement of parliamentary rules and that it invalidated any business done in parliament during their exclusion. Charles appeared to agree...and, of course, this did not please parliament.

1642 In February 1642 the Bishops Exclusion Act was passed which banned bishops from the House of Lords.
