Brentford 1642
Nov 12 Brentford was held by 2 Parliamentary regiments - (Lord Brooke and Holle). The King ordered Prince Rupert to capture it.
Rupert's troops moved from Colnbrook and caught them off their guard by attacking them under cover of fog just west of the town near Brentford Bridge. One of the regiments ran away immediately and Rupert quickly destroyed the other.

A parliamentary supply barge on the Thames was blown up.

Once the Royalists entered the town they killed many, took 500 prisoners and captured 11 colours. It is said that a large number of men were drowned when the Royalists drove them into the river.
