Colby Moor 1645
Jul 29 Sir Edward Stradling led his Royalist forces to face the 800 Parliamentarians under Maj.-General Rowland Laugharne at Colby Moor near Haverfordwest.

Vice-Admiral Sir William Batten arrived at nearby Milford Haven with his fleet.

By the end of March 1644 Laugharne had captured Milford Haven, giving Parliament a safe anchorage for their fleet, allowing them to blockade Bristol and place patrols in the Irish sea
Aug 1 Batten sent the frigate 'Warwick' to disembark 200 men who attacked Stradling's Royalists in the rear. This resulted in a victory for Parliament after only an hour of fighting and the defeated Royalists fell back to Haverfordwest, which they had to abandon the next day.

This victory led to the surrender of other Royalist strongholds in Pembroke including Haverfordwest and Pembroke castles.

Laugharne was able to move on to capture Carmarthen.
