Ormond Peace Treaty 1646
Mar 28 Ormond signs a treaty with the Irish Confederates whereby money and troops would be sent to help the King in return for certain concessions. These included allowing Catholics to take office (civil or military) without taking the oath of supremacy as long as they took the oath of allegiance.

The Confederates hope that the King will be generous to the Catholic cause once he has regained his rightful place.
This treaty came to nothing as Charles surrendered to the Scots before any troops could be sent. Charles later wrote from Newcastle to Ormond forbidding him "to proceed further in treaty with the rebels or to make any conditions with them."
