Teleworking
ICT allows some workers to work from home. An Internet link to the office allows them to upload or download work as required and email can be used to send messages to other workers or to customers.

Advantages :

  • no need to commute to work so saves time and travel expenses.
  • the business does not have to provide office space or other facilities (canteen, toilets etc)
  • office bills are cut (eg electricity)
  • flexible hours - the employee can work any hours.

Disadvantages :

  • the cost of computers and Internet provision
  • loss of social contact
  • there may be distractions in the home
  • motivation may be harder
