Flash Memory
Flash memory is a non-volatile form of memory chip - the data is still stored when the power is turned off.

Data stored on flash memory chips can be erased and the memory can be re-used. This has made them useful in digital cameras, mp3 players, palm-top computers and mobile phones.

Many computers now have card slots where flash memory cards can be inserted and read in a similar way to a floppy disc.

Alternatively, Flash memory card readers can be connected to a computer to read and write to cards.
