Communicating Information
You need to design and make a poster or a brochure for the Ogmore Towers Theme Park.

You also need to design and create a second piece of work selected from :

  • use the mailmerge facility to produce letters inviting Club members to a special event (uses the database from the Database section).
  • a Web Page advertising the Park
  • a Powerpoint presentation advertising the Park.

Background

(Use a word processor to do this)

Describe the Ogmore Towers Theme Park.

Explain what you are going to do and the purpose of your documents.

Describe where your work is to be saved. Give the directory structure and the names of each file.

Explain where your data is going to come from. (Clipart, Internet, drawn yourself, scanned from magazines etc)

 

These are important - there are marks for these.

 
Design

(Example)

Start with an outline design of the document. Either draw it with a pencil or use a graphics package.

Make sure it is not too simple - if you are clever you can do a three-part folding brochure.

Do this on a single sheet of A4. Include pictures and text ...and as many clever features as you can!

 

 
Documents Create the first document. Make sure you have some text and some graphics. Make sure you leave a clear margin round the edge and don't use background colour!
Take special care over formatting. Make sure you use some of these:
  • font and styles; bold; italic;
  • text alignment (centred or justified);

 

 

Use at least one of these

Make sure you use some of these presentation techniques:
  • frames
  • borders
  • fill effects
  • word art
  • animated graphics

 

 

Use at least one of these

Add some advanced formatting techniques :
  • headers / footers
  • tables / spreadsheets included
  • margins
  • overlapping frames
  • superscript / subscript
  • bullet points
  • rotated text
  • include graphs or charts in the document
  • hyperlinks
  • hoverbuttons
  • animation

 

 

Use at least three of these.

Include some advanced and automated routines :
  • import/export of data
  • mailmerge
  • automatic page numbering
  • formulas in a document
  • macros eg to create letter heads (play and record)
  • automatic contents
  • automatic index
  • adding script routines to a web page.

 

At least two of these need to be included in one of your documents.

 
Other things for which you will get marks :
  • make sure there are NO mistakes.
  • make sure the data is plausible - ie sensible!
You do not need to limit yourself to 2 documents. Do more if you wish!
